After stunning Real Madrid, Arsenal now face a Paris St Germain challenge in the UEFA Champions League. The English club takes on the French champions in their first semi-final in 16 years Tuesday, with the first leg scheduled in London.
Arsenal’s last Champions League semi-final was in 2009 against Manchester United and they have reached the final only once.
They, however, are in top form and unbeaten for more than two months across all competitions. They defeated 15-times winners Real Madrid 5-1 in the quarter-finals . PSG, meanwhile, lost their first Ligue 1 match of the season on Friday as they went down 3-1 at home to Nice.
Arsenal want ‘more’ in Champions League
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has announced that the club is not ready to rest on its laurels as the players are hoping to achieve more.
“We have overcome a lot of issues and challenges this season, and the fact that the team is here as one of the best four teams in Europe, it says (a lot) about the mindset, the spirit and how much we really want it,” Arteta told reporters.
“We are making history, and it’s a beautiful story right now, but we want more.”
Arteta added that Arsenal players have a strong belief they can beat PSG.
“The players are really resonating with what we are doing, and they feel like we can face these guys and be better than them,” Arteta said.
“That’s the feeling we had against Madrid and in the previous rounds, and that’s how we feel today. I look them in the eyes and they can’t wait to play tomorrow, that’s the feeling.”
