FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017: Football governing body, Kolkata police beef up security for Brazil-England semi-final

Kolkata: Having witnessed the euphoria during Brazil’s quarter-final win in Kolkata, FIFA and the local authorities are taking some stringent measures to avoid any untoward incident during their U-17 World Cup 2017 semifinal against England on Wednesday. FIFA has asked the Brazil team not to go near galleries for celebrations as it was seen that water pouches were hurled after Paulinho struck the 77th minute winner on 22 October. Meanwhile, the Bidhannagar Police will use body camera for constant monitoring of the crowd on Wednesday. “After Brazil’s second goal against Germany some people misbehaved so body cameras will be installed to take strict action against the offender,” Santosh Pandey, DC Head Quarters and Bidhannagar, said. “It will be used for constant monitoring also Airport-bound vehicles will be diverted via Rajarhat route,” he added.
