Mahmud, a current board director and the team’s manager, slipped into coma and was reportedly critical after being admitted to United Hospital in Dhaka. BCB president Nazmul Hassan, along with other directors visited him after an emergency meeting in Mirpur. The BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said, “The members of the BCB learnt of his condition after making enquiries into why he was absent from Sunday’s board meeting. He was admitted to hospital yesterday morning and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according the Times of India. “He is in a semi-coma, but the CT scan has not revealed anything too serious,” he added. Yunus also mentioned that Mahmud could be taken to Singapore for better treatment, if needed. According to  Cricbuzz, Mahmud underwent MRI scans at 10.30 AM on Monday, the reports of which revealed nothing too serious. However, he is expected to be flown to Singapore at night for further treatment. Mahmud’s condition improved since last night, a BCB source confirmed to Bangladeshi newspaper Dailystar. Yunus added that Mahmud was recovering and although he is still in ICU, he didn’t required any external support therefore his ventilation was removed.   The former all-rounder, who turned 46 last week, represented the country in 12 Tests and 77 ODIs. He finished with 991 runs and 67 wickets, having made his debut in 2001. Mahmud played his last ODI in 2006, shifting towards administration after retirement.
