Cristiano Ronaldo’s Euro 2016 campaign is set to be on its final leg as Portugal dragged out a 0-0 stalemate with Austria on Saturday at the Parc des Princes. After a total of 2 points in as many games, the chance of reaching the knockout stage looks bleak for Portugal. Ronaldo in particular is going through a horrendous time. He got enough pops at the Austria goal last night but just wasn’t able to score. He managed to secure a penalty for his team but then crashed the resulting effort into the post. If that isn’t enough, there are a horde of Icelanders baying for his blood after his comments from their last game at the Euros.
This rain we're getting in Reykjavík might be from clouds of pure #RonaldoTears? It's bitter and yet so sweet... #Por #Isl #PORISL #PORAUT

This tweet pretty much summed up was most people were thinking after watching Ronaldo play last night.
The more I watch this game, the more I believe God exists. And she is a Lionel Messi fan #RonaldoTears #POR

Clealry people enjoy when the self proclaimed best footballer in the past 20 years misses a chance to win a game.
Oh Ronal-no. Rewound "that moment" a good 5 times whilst laughing like a Disney evil character. #PORAUT pic.twitter.com/OKtWC0RGfY

Some people did support him on social media though. This tweet sums up the unfair treatment that Ronaldo is subjected to everytime.
For god's sake focus on #POR mistakes as a team, not just @Cristiano . Every great player has lost penalties at crucial moments. #PORAUT

More ShortsRonaldo’s ‘small mentality’ comment on Iceland comes back to haunt him just days later.

Alan Shearer decided to join all of Twitter in roasting Ronnie.
Remember the date. Ronaldo missing 7 clear chances!!! #EURO2016 #PORAUT

But this tweet may have just won the internet.
For the uninitiated, schadenfreude means to take pleasure in someone else’s misery
But one man’s misery is another’s fortune. While the Real Madrid striker was toiling about the field, hoping to unlock the Austrian defence led by Bayern Munich speedster David Alaba, a fan managed to run onto the field hoping to get a picture with his hero. Under normal circumstances, pitch invaders should be punished as they threaten the security of a player on the field. But in this instance the ‘arrogant’ Ronaldo decided to be kind to his fan and oblige the man with a selfie before he was escorted out of the stadium.
Love him. Hate him. After the night he had, Cristiano stops to do this with a pitch invader. https://t.co/9cKyg5a0vy

But Twitter found a way to troll Cristiano on that kind gesture as well!
Ronaldo takes selfie with pitch invader. Misses
