No to gym, yes to Red Bull and tobacco, England's Jamie Vardy reveals his incredulous diet

When Jamie Vardy came on for England at half-time and scored a 56th minute equaliser against Wales in the Euro 2016, it seemed like life took a full circle for the Leicester City man. His miraculous journey has been mirrored by Leicester City winning the English Premier League, a feat as incredulous as Vardy’s dietary habits. AFP[/caption] Vardy scored 28 goals for club and country on a diet that’s going to make most scratch their beards in surprise. A couple of days after the Welsh game, Vardy was seen walking around with a can of Red Bull. Under normal circumstances, an athlete using an energy drink would illicit questions about his/her fitness and would raise serious concerns. But Vardy insists that this shouldn’t be the case as said to The Telegraph. “I don’t go in for weights or anything like that. Each and every person is different and this is my way, and I’m sure if someone else tried doing what I do then it probably wouldn’t work for them.” So how does a cocktail of no exercise and Red Bull work for a professional athlete? Pretty well! Vardy’s body fat percentage stands at 6 percent and he remains one of the fastest players in the English Premier League. Vardy was also seen with a packet of tobacco that he said was checked by the English medical team and there was ’nothing wrong’ with them. So why is it that some players like Cristiano Ronaldo emphasis on their fitness to such a grueling extent and Vardy gets away with an apparent lack of interest in maintaining his health? It definitely isn’t for the lack of trying. Vardy was asked if any of his former managers have tried to make him hit the gym room. The mercurial striker said, “Yeah, they’ve tried and not succeeded. The last time I lifted a weight was probably that can of Red Bull the other day.”
