After a month-long tournament, Portugal were crowned the new Euro champions on Sunday beating France on its home turf with an extra-time goal. France were the favourites before the game, but luck was on Portugal’s side. Even though the team’s talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo spent most of the match in the dugout due to an injury, Portugal sailed home with an unlikely goal by substitute Eder at the 109th minute of the game. Here’s how the players and the football community reacted to Portugal’s victory.
