EPL as it happened: Aguero, Negredo score as City beat Everton 3-1

The early exchanges were brilliant from them and they created a few half-chances. But on the basis of attacking play and the clear opportunities they had on goal, Manchester City deserve this. They hit back early after going down, allowing no time for Everton to assert their lead and settle down. The Citizens also put their loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the back of their mind with this fine come-from-behind win. 83 minutes: Everton’s resurgence will be cut short today — bringing an end to their unbeaten run in the Premier League. Martinez has put on Kone for the last 10 minutes, but City are still dominating. Negredo was put through again, but can’t add to the scoreline. 75 minutes: Glorious long ball for Negredo and he brings it down with his left foot, dummies to take it on his right and is about to pull the trigger before McCarthy slides in. Excellent stuff all round. GOAL!! 68 minutes: Soft penalty given as Zabaleta goes down to a Coleman challenge. Sergio Aguero takes it low to his right, Howard gets a hand to it, but it has crept it. 65 minutes: Darren Gibson is on for Leon Osman as Everton look to win back some possession which they enjoyed in the first half. The supply to Lukaku has been cut off by City and that is where they are winning this game. Up front, the Belgian looks slightly lonely. 57 minutes: Kolarov is bleeding after an injury above his left eye and will be replaced by Gael Clichy. Meanwhile, Toure finally gets a sniff at goal, but it’s on his left foot and high and wide. 50 minutes: City have come out a different team — with a lot more verve than in the first half. They have already created a couple of half-chances and David Silva looks ominous every time he receives the ball. HALF-TIME GOAL!! 44 minutes: Third time lucky! Silva puts Aguero through, it’s in a tight angle and it seems perfect to be crossed in. However, Sergio Aguero drills it in and makes it 2-1 to City. 40 minutes Negredo slips a ball through to Aguero… it’s there to be hit and City’s top striker has his feet all mixed up! The ball rolls past him harmlessly and that’s two mistakes in a row from Aguero. Stunning. 36 minutes: Massive blow for City as Kompany, who had been struggling, comes off injured. Should be a big boost for Everton to see someone like him go off. In comes Nastasic. No goalmouth action in these last few minutes. 30 minutes: Excellent build-up, helped on by some very sporting refereeing (he allowed the game to flow despite a couple of fouls) but as Barkley finds Mirallas in the box with a chip, the offside flag goes up. End-to-end at The Etihad. At the other end, Silva sets up Aguero with an easy finish, it’s one-on-one but the Argentinian puts it wide. Sitter! 23 minutes: What a game this is! None of that tactical stalemate in the middle of the park. Toure, for City and Naismith for Everton are just urging their forwards to pour forward every time they receive the ball. Lukaku has been penalised for a couple of fouls and Distin shoves off Negredo as the Spaniard made a run into the box from the right. Goal!! 17 minutes: Woho! And City have hit back immediately. Toure controls brilliantly and dissects the defence with a lovely pass which Alvaro Negredo turns in. What a response. 1-1 it is.  Goal!! 16 minutes: He just cannot stop scoring, can he? Romelu Lukaku is slipped through, snips through his man and scores! It’s 1-0 Everton. 11 minutes: Kolarov stands over a close free-kick, takes a good look and almost puts it in the back of the net with a fine attempt. But Everton are no pushovers and are taking the game to City with some slick passing. 6 minutes: Oh and Yaya Toure! He curls one from distance but Howard is up to the task. Everton break from the impending corner but Mirallas can’t find a cross which reaches Lukaku. Good game already, this! 3 minutes: Lukaku has already made his presence felt a couple of times. The big man almost sneaks in to poke home an opener before Hart gathers it. Minutes later he tries to open the defence with a pass but was felled over before he could execute it. Kick-off! Everton have won six out of their last nine games against Manchester City — losing only once. And going into this fixture, the Toffees are unbeaten. We asked out Twitter followers for match predictions. Here are some of their responses:
