England vs South Africa: Joe Root and Co travel by London's Tube to reach stadium for third day's play

Imagine the Indian cricket team players taking a Mumbai local train on a match day to reach the Wankhede Stadium. No matter what the circumstances are, it’s highly unlikely that the BCCI would make the likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin to board a train to reach the ground. But with England’s cricket team, it is possible. In an unusual move, English players took a Tube to reach the Oval for day three of the third Test against South Africa.Fast-bowler Stuart Broad uploaded a photo on Instagram where the likes of Joe Root, James Anderson, Keaton Jennings, Jonny Bairstow and Toby Roland-Jones looked in high-spirits while travelling in the Tube. Skipper Root also took to Twitter to take a sly dig on Broad, who was staring at a Sky Sports billboard which featured him along with other famous athletes like Lionel Messi and Lewis Hamilton.

England’s ODI opener Alex Hales replied to Root’s tweet with a close-up image of Broad and termed it as a smug look.

After enjoying the Tube ride, it did not take much time for England to take the remaining two South African wickets. The visitors were bowled out for 175, conceding a lead of 178 runs. Playing his first Test, pacer Roland-Jones was the hero for the hosts with a top-class bowling performance. His figures read 5/57 in 16.4 overs. In England’s second innings, opener Alastair Cook was dismissed cheaply for 7 but Jennings and Tom Westley were going well before rain stopped further play.
