Eden curator learns that you just can't refuse Dhoni

Eden Gardens curator Prabir Mukherjee has been sidelined after refusing to prepare a turning track for the third Test. In short, he has just learned that you cannot say no to the captain of the Indian cricket team. CNN-IBN said that there were differences in opinion between Dhoni and the curator— a veteran who has prepared pitches for 14 Test matches. India have won one and lost one Test in the four-match series against England. But the Kolkata Test comes after a humiliating 10-wicket defeat at the Wankhede— a pitch that was tailor-made for Dhoni and his Indian team. After the loss however, Dhoni insisted that he wanted a pitch similar to the one at Wankhede. But one can’t help but think that the Indian skipper is barking up the wrong pitch. He should only be worried about how his team is playing – it isn’t about the pitch. It’s about his batsmen not wanting to stay in the middle long enough to score runs; it’s about his bowlers not bowling consistently enough to take wicket; it’s about him as a captain not being able to get the best out of his players. And that is the only argument that matters. The BCCI, on it’s part. has come out an said that they don’t pick the curator – the pitches committee does that. So they have washed their hands off the issue and feigned ignorance as they so often do.
