MS Dhoni has today posted a poignant picture with Sourav Ganguly on the former India skipper’s birthday. India’s two most popular captains celebrate their birthdays just one day apart, with Dhoni celebrating his birthday on 7 July. [caption id=“attachment_24100” align=“alignnone” width=“380”]

Wish you a very happy birthday Sourav Ganguly Official Posted by MS Dhoni on Tuesday, 7 July 2015
Ganguly eventually retired from international cricket while Dhoni was captain (the current India ODI skipper even allowed Ganguly to lead the side for a while during his last match). We saw a very different Dhoni under Ganguly — the wicketkeeper was famous for his long locks and untamed batting style — compared to the much more reserved and ‘cool’ side we see now. India’s Test captaincy passed from Ganguly to Rahul Dravid to Anil Kumble and finally to Dhoni. The Ranchi-born player stepped down as Test skipper during the tour to Australia last year, with Virat Kohli taking over. Dhoni’s wish was pretty simple: “Wish you a very happy birthday,” he wrote — but the picture’s surely worth a thousand words. The master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar went even further back in time to post a beautiful wish on Twitter. A great partnership rekindled.
Dada brings back great memories not just for us fans, evidently.
