It’s amazing how Gukesh has defended with black pieces and despite having the white pieces, Liren is currently almost 30 minutes down. Gukesh has been quite bold and that has helped him so far. Gukesh played a novelty 7.Re1 in Game 7 and it left everyone stunned. It was a pawn gambit that had never been played before in more than 5000 master games. This also forced Ding to take twenty-five minutes for his next move. That was some stunning prep and start to Game 7 by Gukesh but he could not capitalise in the end.

D Gukesh vs Ding Liren Game 8 LIVE Updates, World Chess Championship 2024: After missing out on a golden opportunity to beat Ding Liren in Game 7 on Tuesday , D Gukesh will be back for Game 8 on Wednesday (4 December 204) with the hope to take a one-point lead in the 14-game series which can prove to be a decisive blow. The last four matches in the  World Chess Championship 2024 between D Gukesh and Ding Liren have ended in a draw with both players currently tied at 3.5-3.5 .

Reigning world champion Ding of China had won Game 1 while the second game ended in a draw before 18-year-old Gukesh from India struck back with a win in Game 3. Since then all matches have ended in a draw. In the 14-classical game series, the first player to reach 7.5 points will win the World Chess Championship 2024 and every single win from now on will be highly crucial with just seven matches to go.
