With four judokas - Jina Devi, Sahil, Rajwinder and Parikshit - making the bronze medal play-offs, expectations were high. Rajwinder won on penalties as Esther picked up three warnings. Soon after, Pariskhit went down to Australian Jake Andrewartha in the men’s +100kg bronze medal contest B. Earlier, Jina Devi lost her women’s -78kg contest to Cameroonian Hortense Mballa Atangana. The Indian picked up a shido or a warning in the 44th second and Hortense nailed it with a yuko and an ippon. Sahil also lost his men’s -100 kg match to New Zealand’s Tim Slyfield. Sahil picked up two shidos and Slyfield got one but the New Zealander sealed it with an ippon. IANS
