Weightlifting - Sivalingam lights it up with GOLD and games record, Katulu takes silver 77kg event: An astonishing total lift of 328kg gives Sathish Sivalingam the gold and a games record. His lift was 11kg more than his nearest competitor. India also take the silver with Ravi Katulu, whose total lift was 317kg. Weightlifting Women’s 63 kg At the end of Snatch segment, Vandana Gupta is in 2nd place with a lift of 91kg while Punam Yadav is in 5th place – she lifted 88kg. Nigeria’s O Adesanmi was in top place with a lift of 92kg. After the clean and jerk segment, MEDAL! Punam Yadav moved up into third place and claimed a bronze with a total of 202 kgs. Nigeria’s O Adesanmi won the gold with a total of 207 on lighter body weight from countrywoman O Okoli (also 207 kgs). Women’s hockey LIVE: India vs New Zealand FT: India have lost 0-3 to New Zealand. NZ are ranked much higher and even though India gave a good fight, they were no match. 53 mins: NZ score from a penalty stroke. They won the PC after a video referral. NZ 1-0 Ind. This should be a good game. The two teams are well-matched. It won’t be easy and a big test for India. Athletics: Women’s 100m Round 1 Heat 3: India’s Shradha finished 5th with a time of 11.81s. Calvert of Jam wins with 11.29 secs. She managed to qualify for the 100m semi-finals tomorrow. Boxing Boxing Men’s Light Welter (64kg) Round of 16 : Defending champion Manoj Kumar enters QFs – beats A Biyarslanov of Canada. It went down to the wire. Men’s Double Trap semifinals - India’s Asab Mohd shot 27 at the end of his 30 shots and went into a shoot-off with England two shoots – Mathew French and Steven Scott. But he then missed is the first sudden death and dropped into the bronze medal playoff with N Xuereb. Mohd came good in the playoff to win the bronze medal with a score of 26/30. N Xuereb shot 24/30. The other Indian in the semi-final – Ankur Mittal was knocked out after 30 shots. He had dropped 5 birds. India has had a good run in the shooting events and will hope that these shooters are bring in the medals. Shreyasi Singh wins silver! Shooting Double Trap Women’s Finals: Shreyasi Singh wins the silver with 92 points. Charlotte Kerwood (England) won the gold medal with 94 points. India’s Varsha Varman finished 5th with 88 points. India lose bronze medal in table tennis India 1-3 Australia. 4th match India’s Patkar vs Australia’s Zhang - Zhang win the match, taking the fifth game 11-9. - Zhang is not giving up without a fight. She takes the fourth game 11-8. - Patkar also won the third game – 11-8. It’s not been a one-sided match at all. - Patkar fought back to take the second game – 11-5. - Zhang took the first game – 11-9. 3rd match India’s Patkar/Kumaresan lose to Australia’s Miao/Lay - - Australia’s Miao/Lay win the fifth game – 11-7. And that’s the match too. India fought hard but never quite managed to close things out. - Australia’s Miao/Lay win the fourth game – 11-4. - The see-saw battle continues. India’s Patkar/Kumaresan win the third game – 11-9. - Australia’s Miao/Lay strike back to win the second game in quick time – 11-3. - Patkar/Kumaresan win a thrilling first game 21-19. It just went on and on. A score straight out of the old days – with an old timers scoreline. 2nd match India’s Batra beats Aus’s Lay - Batra played superbly to clinch the fourth game and the match. She won the final game 11-7. - Batra moves into the lead again – tight games. She won the third game 11-8 but it wasn’t easy. - Lay fights back to level the match at one game-all. She took the game 11-8. Batra had her chances but made too many unforced errors. - Batra wins the first game 11-5. Very steady play and some good deception in the serve. 1st Match Australia’s Zhang beats India’s Kumaresan - Kumaresan loses the fourth game 9-11. She loses the match as well. - Kumaresan loses the third game 6-11. She will be fighting for the match in the next game. - Kumaresan wins the second game 11-2. - S Kumaresan has lost the first game 5-11 to Zyu Zhang of Australia.
