January 11, 1973 will go down as one of the greatest days in Indian cricket - the day Rahul Dravid stepped into this world. Considered one of the greatest ever to have played the game, Dravid’s importance to Indian cricket cannot be overstated. The man, who is as renowned for his remarkable technique on the field as for his pearls of wisdom off it, is one of the most respected cricketers of his generation. Reuters.[/caption] As the Indian team prepares to take on the mighty Australians in their home turf, one cannot help but think back to one of the most memorable cricketing moments in Indian cricketing history - the Test win in Adelaide, in 2003. The match was won under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy but the most lasting impact on the match was made by non other than the Wall himself, with the double-century in the first innings and an unbeaten win in the second - sealing the win for India with a cut shot to the point boundary from a short ball off Stuart Macgill, taking his off India cap and holding it high in celebrations. Currently the coach of the Indian Under-19 and India A teams, Dravid will be overseeing his wards in the Under-19 World Cup beginning later this month in Bangladesh. On behalf of the entire cricketing community, here is hoping that The Wall wins a much-deserved World Cup, the one honour that eluded him as a player. The cricket community shared their wishes as the ‘Jam, Jam, Jammy’ turned 43. Here’s a selection of the best. First up, the cricketers, starting with the Test captain Virat Kohli:
Happy Birthday Rahul Bhai. You are an inspiration always. Thank you for so many immortal cricket memories. #Legend
