COA chief Vinod Rai hopeful BCCI will adopt new constitution based on Lodha panel reforms by October

New Delhi: Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai on Saturday sounded hopeful that they will be able to complete their task by October, a time by which BCCI should adopt the new constitution based on Lodha panel reforms. The SGM will be held after that and then go forward as per new constitution. That’s why I said all along that COA will complete it’s task in October,” Rai told mediapersons after a COA meeting on Saturday. Rai once again stated what he has already mentioned in the fourth status report that their efforts to bring in consensus failed. Asked about N Srinivasan coming back into the mainstream with Chennai Super Kings back in the Indian Premier League, Rai replied: “Everything has been mentioned in the Status Report and I don’t wish to comment further. In February, The Supreme Courtappointed a four-member committee of administrators headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai to run the affairs of the BCCI and implement court-approved recommendations of the Justice RM Lodha panel on reforms in the cash-rich cricket body. Other three members of the committee of administrators were famous cricket historian Ramachandra Guha, Vikram Limaye and former Indian women’s cricket captain Diana Edulji. Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye have since resigned from the COA. The COA placed a report about the recommendations for reforms in the cricket body complied with by BCCI. The list of names, from which the names for the COA were shortlisted, were placed in sealed covers by senior advocates and amicus curiae, Anil Divan and Gopal Subramaniam, and Kapil Sibal, who represented some state cricket associations including Himachal Pradesh.
