Quinton de Kock became the second South African after Richard Levi to score two T20 centuries. He scored a fairly sedate 42 off the first 36 balls he faced but then cut loose to score 67 off his next 27 deliveries to finish unbeaten on 109. In all he hit 10 fours and five sixes off the 63 balls that he faced. He almost single-handedly carried the Lions to a competitive total.

Otago 167/7 (20 overs)

In reply, Otago also found themselves in a fair bit of trouble. Lions restricted Otago to 103 for six in 15 overs but then a late flourish from James Neesham (52 off 25 balls) brought his team back in the fray. Requiring 50 off the last four overs, Otago looked down and out. Neesham smacked Lonwabo Tsotsobe for 18 runs to bring the equation down to 32 off 18 balls.

Super Over The Otago Volts posted 13 runs batting first in the Super Over – courtesy a last ball six by McCullum off Tanvir. But Lions came out and De Kock hit 11 runs off the first three balls (4, 6 and 1) from the Neesham over, but then his partner, Jean Symes, was out off the next ball. De Kock took a single off the fifth delivery but Dwayne Pretorius was only able to score a single off the final delivery. With the scores again tied the Volts won the match on the countback in the final over with Brendon McCullum having hit a six off the final ball in their Super Over.
