Titans beat Hyderabad by eight wickets

Titans 147-2 after 16.3 overs: Full toss and pulled away for four by Kuhn… and that does it for the Titans. The attacking batsman had virtually finished off the game with a six in the 15th over and both batsmen take their time to win it. It was a confident performance — especially the way their bowlers fought back from Dhawan and Parthiv’s onslaught early on, before executing the perfect chase plan.

Wicket! Titans 123-2 after 13.3 overs - AB de Villiers c Perera b I Sharma 9 (7b, 2x4, 0x6): Oooh slight blip in proceedings for Titans. Nothing special about the wicket — De Villiers hit it straight to long-off.

Wicket! Titans 112-1 after 12.1 overs - Davids c Sammy b Steyn 64 (42b, 7x4, 4x6): The first bad shot from Davids, and he’s gone. Steyn’s been returned to the attack and takes a wicket on the first ball. Davids probably in two minds as what looked like it would be a big shot, just ends up as a mere scoop to Sammy.

Titans 104-0 after 11 overs: Ishant Sharma’s turn to wince now, as Davids slaps him for two fours in the 11th over. He looks untouchable at the moment, helping himself to two sumptuous sixes in the last three overs. At the moment, the Titans are on course for a great win.

Titans 75-0 after eight overs: Steady, careful and very calculated. That’s how Titans are taking this run-chase, and maybe they’ll get there. While most of this innings has been about Davids and his resilience, we have to spare a word for Rudolph, who’s caught up with his partner — the six over covers in Duminy’s over absolutely lovely to watch.

Titans 53-0 after six overs: Ishant’s short ball whacks Davids on the helmet, but that doesn’t stop him from getting another four through the midwicket area. A slight break for everyone as Davids gets some treatment and tell you what, it may not seem like an explosive start for the Titans – but they’re scoring at a very good run-rate and haven’t lost any wickets.

Titans 32-0 after four overs: SIX! Davids has taken a liking to Steyn, and scores his second six off the bowler. Rudolph has also joined the party, hitting a four – slightly lucky, but his edge scurries away to the third-man boundary.

Titans 15-0 after two overs: Looks like Davids is on a high after taking that brilliant catch earlier in the innings. He’s whipped a four and scored a six off Steyn to give Titans a steady start.

Titans need 146 runs to win

Hyderabad 145-7 after 20 overs: Well, well, well… the unlikely Dale Steyn comes up with the goods! He smashes a four in the 19th over, and then cuts loose in the last over — smashing two sixes and two fours in the last over (De Lange), giving the Sunrisers a much-needed grandstand finish! Classic from the pace spearhead.

Hyderabad 117-7 after 18 overs Sammy c Behardien b Richards 1 (2b, 0x4, 0x6) Perera run out 11 (16b, 0x4, 0x6)

Poor, very poor from Sunrisers. After that cracking start from Dhawan and Parthiv, the rest of the batting lineup has completely failed. Perera loses his wicket after the keeper’s direct hit — this is after Sammy lost his wicket attempting a flat six.

Hyderabad 102-5 after 16 overs - Duminy b de Lange 17 (28b, 0x4, 0x6): Yorker and crack! That was unlike Duminy, getting just 17 in 28… he was under pressure, aimlessly slogged and pays the price.

Hyderabad 93-4 after 14 overs: No boundaries in the last three over, and the destructive Perera has already been dropped once — his stinging shot hit straight back to De Lange, who can’t take it.

Hyderabad 86-4 after 11.4 overs - Samantray st Mosehle b Davids 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6): Oh that’s brilliant. Mosehle ghosts to his left, collects the wide ball perfectly and clips the bails. Great comeback from Titans.

Hyderabad 83-3 after 10.5 overs - Vihari c Davids b Wiese 6 (9b, 1x4, 0x6): Another one bites the dust, but what a catch that was from Davids who had to move quickly to his right to grab it. The short ball does the trick for Wiese.

Wicket! Hyderabad 71-2 after 8.1 overs - Patel b Wiese 26 (24b, 2x4, 2x6): Bowled him! Parthiv walks, and joins his opening partner Dhawan in the dugout. Massive confidence boost for Titans, this.

Wicket! Hyderabad 62-1 after 6.3 overs - Dhawan c Morkel b Wiese 37 (21b, 7x4, 1x6): He goes for another six, and this time he’s taken at third man. That was a cracking innings though, and it’s a great start for SRH overall.

Hyderabad 60-0 after six overs: These two are on fire! First Dhawan takes De Lange to the cleaners, taking 14 runs off him in the 5th over in boundaries (2x4,1x6) and then it’s Parthiv’s turn to do exactly the same in the sixth over. Parthiv has decided not to keep quiet, he’s going to take advantage of the momentum Dhawan has provided.

Hyderabad 32-0 after four overs: Four four four four! Dhawan’s got going… hammering both Richards and Morkel to all parts of the field. Parthiv just has to wait and watch as the man in form plays some cracking shots. One of the on-drives was classic, from right out of Cricket 1999, the game.

Hyderabad 12-0 after two overs: Morkel troubles Parthiv for five deliveries before the diminutive batsman flashes towards the offside for six. What a shot… simply top-class. In the first over, a last minute change of shot from Dhawan sees him open his account with a four through fine-leg.
