2257 IST A couple of streaky boundaries from Sammy draws Sunrisers level. A top edged hook loops over the keeper and an inside edge beats leg stump and third man. He finishes things off in style though with a classic cover drive that races to the ropes. Another comprehensive win for Sunrisers, who have looked a different class in this qualifier. They are through to the main tournament, along with Otago. Wolves are knocked out, despite the best efforts of Misbah-ul-Haq. If Dhawan’s form continues in the main draw, Sunrisers could be a real threat. Misbah: Batting so well is good for me but not good for the team. Trying but not helping them. I think really good for the guys who haven’t played any international games. Really good for them to learn about the international scene and what sort of pressure they face. Just try to win the last game and go back home with something positive. Shikhar: For sure, Steyn came back nicely and our spinners bowled very nicely. Boys are batting well, so all going good. I knew I had to use Mishra better today. 2245 IST Dhawan gets to his fifty with a slog to cow corner, then dances down to smash Imran Khalid for six in the same area. OUT! Khalid strikes back. Dhawan inside edges a flatter delivery on to his stumps. Dhawan b Imran Khalid 59 (50b 6x4 1x6) Biplab Samantray is the new man. OUT! Khalid has two wickets in three balls. Samantray is trapped lbw second ball. Samantray lbw b Imran Khalid 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) Sunrisers are 112/3 after 15 overs. Sunrisers need 16 to win from 30 balls. 2225 IST Sunrisers are moving relentless towards another victory that would take them into the main tournament and Dhawan is moving relentlessly towards another 50. After 13 overs, Sunrisers are 96/1, with Dhawan on 46 and Duminy on 12. 2220 IST OUT! Parthiv pulls savagely but straight to midwicket. That has come against the run of play. Short ball there to be hit but Parthiv found the fielder instead of the gap. PA Patel c Khurram Shehzad b Ehsan Adil 23 (21b, 3x4, 0x6) Sunrisers are 68/1 after 9 overs. 2200 IST Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel have started out in a much calmer fashion than in the previous game, happy to push the ball around with the occasional boundary thrown in to keep the run-rate up. The fifth over bowled by Samiullah Khan pushed the run-rate up a touch, as 14 runs came from it, with Dhawan striking two fours and Parthiv chipping the bowler to the long-on boundary as well. After 5 overs, Sunrisers are 41/1, with Dhawan on 24 and Parthiv on 13. 2130 IST Misbah brings up his 50 with a sweet flick off a low full toss from Perera that he swings over square leg. Took him 36 balls and he smashed five sixes. Then he puts in the full length dive to get home after running two. He looked dead half way down the pitch but somehow managed to make it back in time. The bat just creeps over the line as the bails come off. All this at 39. That’s commitment to a cause. Wolves finish with 127/5 from their 20 overs. Misbah finishes with 56 not out from 40 balls. 2123 IST Misbah isn’t done yet though. Slaps a low full toss to log-on where Sammy rises and sticks out a hand but it glancs off the top of his fingers and goes for SIX! In the penultimate over against Steyn, manages to muscle a good length delivery wide of square leg. You can always count on Misbah to keep fighting. Meanwhile Steyn is searching for his first wicket in the tournament. He finishes with figures of 0 for 20. After 19 overs, Wolves are 117/5. Misbah as 46 from 34 balls. 2116 IST Shehzad brings up the 100 for Wolves in the 18th over with a couple to wide log-on. OUT! The wickets keep falling around poor Misbah. Perera bowls Shehzad for 4 with a slower ball. Khurram Shehzad b Perera 4 (7b, 0x4, 0x6) Wolves 101/5 after 17.2 overs.2104 IST OUT! Ishant returns and strikes first ball. Khalid holes out tamely to long-on. Wolves now 92/4.
2103 IST Misbah is still fighting. Smashes Mishra high and far over long-on for the second SIX of his innings. Doesn’t hurt Mishra’s numbers too much though. He finishes with 1 for 13 from 4 overs. He shows he can do it against the seamers too. Launches Sammy over long-off for another SIX! After 15 overs, Wolves are 92/3, with Misbah on 29 annd Khalid on 2. 2057 IST Darren Sammy replaces Karan Sharma and also picks up a wicket in his first over. OUT! Mahmood moves across to try and scoop the ball over the infield but only loops it up to short fine leg. Wolves slowly unravelling here. Ammar Mahmood c Mishra b Sammy 31 (38b, 4x4, 0x6) After 13 overs, Wolves are 70/3. 2050 IST The legspinners keep things tight for a couple of overs before Misbah decides he has had enough and smashes Sharma over cow corner for SIX! Wolves are 66 fotr 2 after 12 overs, with Mahmood on 33 and Misbah on 11. Mishra has 1 for 5 from 3 overs. Just 18 runs have come off the last five overs. 2042 IST Karan Sharma strikes in his first over too. Fools Asif Ali with the top-spinner and catches him plumb in front of the stumps. Asif Ali lbw b KV Sharma 0 (6b, 0x4, 0x6) Misbah is the new man and survives a very confident shout for lbw. Replays show he got an inside edge. After 9 overs, Wolves are 51/2. 2037 IST Ishant is a touch wayward in his second over. Waqas picks up another boundary as 10 comes from the over. Mishra then replaces him after Perera gives away just four runs from his over. OUT! And Mishra strikes with his second ball. Waqas goes for the slog sweep but doesn’t get the distance and holes out to deep midwicket. Starts with a wicket-maiden. Ali Waqas c Ashish Reddy b Mishra 16 (21b, 2x4, 0x6) After 8 overs, Wolves are 48/1. 2025 IST Ammar Mamood starts to throw his bat around. Slogs Ishant to the midwicket boundary. Didn’t quite time it but the ball reached the rope anyway as there was no played in the deep. Ali Waqas also picks up a boundary when he slashes a wide one behind point. Thisara Perera comes on to replace Steyn and Mahmood shows he has a few shots in his bag. He eases him through the covers, then guides him past the keeper to third man for a couple of boundaries. Looks much better when he is looking to time the ball as opposed to smashing it. After 5 overs, Wolves are 34/0, with Mahmood on 22 and Waqas on 7. 2010 IST The players are out on the field. Dale Steyn, of course, has the new ball. His radar is working to right-handed batsmen, but still needs some work to the left-handers. Wolves pick up four leg-byes to fine leg. Five from the first over, which is a substantial improvement on his first game. Steady first over from Ishant too. Just three from it. After 2 overs, Wolves are 8/0. 1945 IST Here are the playing XIs: Faisalabad: Ali Waqas, Ammar Mahmood, Asif Ali, Misbah-ul-Haq*, Khurram Shehzad, Imran Khalid, Mohammad Salman†, Ehsan Adil, Saeed Ajmal, Asad Ali, Samiullah Khan. Hyderabad: S Dhawan*, PA Patel†, JP Duminy, BB Samantray, DJG Sammy, NLTC Perera, A Ashish Reddy, KV Sharma, A Mishra, DW Steyn, I Sharma. Meanwhile Harsha Bhogle feels sorry for Kandurata Maroons:
1930 IST Shikhar Dhawan has won the toss and Sunrisers Hyderabad will bowl first against Faisalabad Wolves. They are playing the same team as the first game. Misbah wants his team to play positive cricket and not think too much about how this is a must-win game. They are also playing the same team. Preview The Sunrisers Hyderabad won their opening fixture and a second win would dump the Faisalabad Wolves, who lost their first game to Otago Volts, out of the tournament. While Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy was a mixed bag, his batting was magnificent as he led his team to an unexpectedly comfortable win over the Kandurata Maroons, who were eliminated when they lost to Otago earlier today. [caption id=“attachment_1118145” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Shikhar Dhawan has learned from his match as captain. BCCI[/caption] In contrast, the Wolves batting, apart from captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, let them down and they will be hard pressed to lift their game against the team with the best attack in the qualifiers. Dale Steyn was uncharacteristically wayward in the first match but rarely produces two bad games in a row. Ishant Sharma bowled with control and purpose and looked to be in rhythm, while Dhawan had admitted he should have bowled Amit Mishra more. Darren Sammy was adequate without being penetrating, but he can be hard to get away with his control over line and length. For the Wolves, Misbah will need more support from the likes of Khurram Shehzad and Asif Ali, while relying on Saeed Ajmal to lead the bowling attack.
