CLT20 as it happened: Faisalabad beat Maroons by 10 runs

[caption id=“attachment_1122887” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] BCCI Tharanga scored a quickfire fifty on his last outing. BCCI[/caption] Faisalabad win the match by 10 runs Maroons 136-7 after 20 overs Silva st Salman b Imran Khalid 25 (24b, 1x4, 1x6) Dilhara run out 15 (16b, 2x4, 0x6) Siriwardana b Ehsan Adil 19 (9b, 2x4, 1x6) They tried hard, Maroons did, but didn’t have enough in the tank to push for the last 10 runs. Ehsan Adil struck again, removing the menacing Siriwardana, and Silva and Dilhara quickly followed, leaving too much to do for the batting team. Faisalabad go home with a win under their belt and Misbah will also collect the Man of the Match award. Maroons 91-4 after 15 overs - Sangakkara c Ammar Mahmood b Imran Khalid 44 (36b, 4x4, 1x6): Sanga departs after a fine innings, hitting one straight to Mahmood at deep fine-leg. He was looking to get the gap there for four more but finds the fielder. Maroons need 56 from 30 balls — and T20 has seen worse odds come true. Chamara Silva has just started hitting some good shots and will pose a threat till he’s around Maroons 57-3 after 10 overs Tharanga c Asad Ali b Ehsan Adil 25 (27b 4x4 0x6) Thirimanne c Asad Ali b Ehsan Adil 4 (6b 0x4 0x6) Oops and Sangakkara rides a lifeline, the bowler dropping an easy catch. Shehzad should have taken that one but the Wolves will be happy to have sent Tharanga and Thirimanne back to the dugout. Both players caught at mid-off after mistimed shots. Maroons 30-1 after five overs - Kandamby lbw b Asad Ali 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6): After a quick three fours, Tharanga has calmed down a bit — maybe Kandamby’s LBW had a role in that. If Maroons are to close this game quickly, they need Tharanga to stick around and build a partnership with Sangakkara. Sanga has opened his boundaries account with a solid six over the bowler’s head. That was so easy on the eye, pure timing. Maroons need 147 runs to beat Wolves Wolves 146-6 after 20 overs Mohammad Salman c Jayaratne b Dilhara 21 (21b, 1x4, 0x6) Imran Khalid c Sangakkara b Dilhara 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6) Wickets keep falling around him but Misbah keeps slogging out the runs. He treats Kulasekara just like the other bowlers, hitting him for a four and a six in the 18th over — this is after he clobbered Randiv a six and two fours earlier. In the last over, he tries his best to get a century but finishes on 93. Salman gave him able support before being caught off Dilhara. Wolves 114-4 after 17 overs: Six! And four! Misbah’s enjoying himself out there. The win may not mean anything for his team, but that doesn’t mean can’t hammer the bowlers. On 68 now, the Wolves skipper has been in brilliant form through the tournament and carries on. Maroons have introduced Kulasekara in the attack again. His figures read 2/7. Wolves 77-4 after 13 overs - Khurram Shehzad lbw b Mendis 7 (14b, 1x4, 0x6): Easy decision for the umpire as Shehzad misses his shot and the ball hits him right in front of the stumps. The Wolves have been let off a couple of times but didn’t really capitalise on their mistakes. However, Misbah swats a couple of fours to lift the gloom. Wolves 36-3 after seven overs Asif Ali c Sangakkara b Kulasekara 10 (10b, 1x4, 0x6) Ammar Mahmood c Tharanga b Dilhara 10 (12b, 1x4, 0x6) Misbah is still at the crease after a lucky break — he gets dropped and in the process also scores a six. Apart from Sangakkara, who took his second catch of the day, the Maroons have been woeful in the field in this match. Meanwhile, Shehzad beautifully cuts for four more. Wolves 14-1 after two overs - Waqas c Sangakkara b Kulasekara 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6): Quite an eventful start to proceedings in Mohali. The first ball just over the top of mid-on, the second dropped, the third close and the fifth gets a wicket. Second over sees Asif Ali crack a lovely boundary through the on-side. Maroons have won the toss and will bowl first Both Kandurata Maroons and Faisalabad have been knocked out. Should still be interesting to see who ends up on top in this match.
