Here’s a look at the moment when Koneru Humpy resigned after 75 moves in the second Rapid tiebreak, leaving Divya Deshmukh emotional over her grand win.

Look at the emotions as Divya Deshmukh becomes the first-ever Indian to win the FIDE Women’s Chess World Cup. She defeats the Indian legend Koneru Humpy 1.5-0.5.

Both players are almost out of time and you feel this game is heading towards a draw.

White Bishop takes Knight on d5 on the 24th move as Divya responds with exd5. Since then, it has been pretty defensive till 40…dxe4 by Divya. The e4 move by Humpy on the 40th was marked as poor by the computer engine. The d5 on 41st also got the same rating. Divya’s 42…cxd5 also looks like a mistake. Humpy gives a check with 44 Qd4+ followed by Queen exchange on the 46th move.

This is quite amazing! After 21 moves, both players have their Rooks on the a-file in a very defensive setup. On the 20th move, Divya went N5b6, but Humpy took the Knight out with her own Knight, which was on c4.

17 moves done and Divya is still holding a slight advantage with Black pieces. She also has almost 5 minutes extra time on clock as compared to Humpy.
