Freestyle Chess Paris Leg Semi-finals Live Updates: Day 2 of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour 2025 semi-finals in Paris will take place on Saturday, with all four players returning to the board after draws in their opening games . Vincent Keymer, winner of the Weissenhaus leg, is playing Hikaru Nakamura, while World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen is locking horns against Fabiano Caruana.
Game 1 of the semi-finals witnessed contrasting draws on Friday; while Hikaru and Keymer played out a sedate game before shaking hands, Carlsen and Caruana battled it out for 67 moves until they were left with their Kings.
Both 5th-8th classification matches, however, achieved a result with Ian Nepomniachtchi and Nodirbek Abdusattorov defeating Arjun Erigaisi and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave respectively. Erigaisi, who lost to Hikaru in the quarter-finals after finishing fourth at the end of the round-robin stage, suffered his second consecutive defeat as a result.
And in the 9th-12th classification game, R Praggnanandhaa and Richard Rapport played out a draw on Friday and face each other in the second game on level terms. Praggnanandhaa and Rapport fight for the ninth spot after defeating Vidit Gujrathi and D Gukesh respectively.
The winner of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour 2024 Paris leg will be awarded a cash prize of $20,000.
