FIDE Candidates 2026 Round 2 Highlights: Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa faces Wei Yi as we get ready for Round 2 of the FIDE Candidates 2026, which will take place on Monday (30 March) in Cyprus. Meanwhile, Divya Deshmukh will be up against Praggnanandhaa’s sister R Vaishali in the second round of Women’s Candidates.
Praggnanandhaa started the Fide Candidates 2026 with a stunning win over Anish Giri on Sunday as he outfoxed the veteran Dutch Grandmaster with the ‘Grand Prix’ attack. “I think this line is playable and takes my opponent out of theory,” Praggnanandhaa revealed after the game as Giri struggled against the unconventional club-level opening.
