Arjun Erigaisi inched closer to compatriot D Gukesh in the latest FIDE ratings list on Tuesday while Aravindh Chithambaram attained his career-best after his triumph in the Prague Chess Masters . Indian Grandmasters Arjun and Aravindh were among the gainers latest FIDE ratings; while the former regained the fourth spot with five rating points, Aravindh made a major leap by collecting 18 points.
Five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen, meanwhile, continues to lead the list, having first moved to the top of the ratings in 2010 and remained the top-ranked player since 2011. The Norwegian chess icon’s rating currently stands at 2,837 after gaining four rating points. Hikaru Nakamura remains at the second spot with a rating of 2,804 after gaining a couple of points.

Aravindh takes a giant stride after the biggest victory over his career
Aravindh had pulled off the biggest feat of his career earlier this month by clinching the Prague Masters on the final day of the event with a draw against Turkey’s Gurel Ediz.
The 25-year-old finished with a total of six points out of a possible nine at the end of the Masters Section while Praggnanandhaa finished joint-second along with Dutch GM Anish Giri and Chinese GM Wei Yi.
Had Praggnanandhaa not lost to Giri in the final round, he might have forced the Masters event to go into tie-breaks, where he would have had a solid shot at collecting another major title after winning the Tata Steel Chess tournament in Netherlands.
Humpy remains only Indian in women’s top-10
As for the women’s ratings, GM Koneru Humpy – who had recently been crowned women's world rapid champion for a second time – remains the only Indian among the top-10.
Humpy occupies the sixth spot with a rating of 2.528, while the top four spots are occupied by Chinese players, led by Hou Yifan (2,633) and Wenjun Ju (2,561). Russia’s Aleksandra Goryachkina completes the top-five with a rating of 2,544.
GMs Harika Dronavalli (2,488) and R Vaishali (2,484) are the next highest-rated Indians in the updated ratings, occupying the 15th and the 16th spots while IM Divya Deshmukh (2,460) sits at the 20th spot.
