Chess Olympiad Round 11 Live Updates: D Gukesh vs Vladimir Fedoseev Interactive Board
Chess Olympiad 2024 Round 11 Preview: India will aim to win gold medals in both open (men’s) and women’s sections of the 45th Chess Olympiad on Sunday. Both Indian men’s and women’s teams are at the top of their respective points table with one more round to go. Indian men will take on Slovenia in the final, Round 11, of the open (men’s) section, while Indian women will be up against Azerbaijan.
India defeated the USA by 2.5-1.5 in the 10th round of the open section to take a two-point lead in the points table over China and will enter Round 11 as the favourites. India can only lose the gold medal if they lose to Slovenia by a massive margin and China beat the USA 4-0.
Indian women’s team also lead the points table in their section but Kazakhstan also have the same number of points (17) as India. India play against Azerbaijan in the final round and will look for a win in Round 11 to ensure a gold medal win.
India have so far won two bronze medals at the Chess Olympiad in 2014 and 2022. They shared a gold medal win with Russia in 2020 when the Chess Olympiad was played virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
