The top 10 teams in the Open and Women’s sections, with India finishing on top in both categories!

THE WOMEN’S TEAM WINS GOLD AS WELL! India had not won a single gold in the Chess Olympiad till date, only to win two of them in Budapest!

India had to wait for a bit after their comprehensive victory over Azerbaijan, and it was only after USA held Kazakhstan to a 2-2 draw that the second gold was confirmed!

India register identical wins in the Open as well as Women’s categories, with Vidit Gujrathi settling for a draw against Matej Sebenik that results in a 3.5-0.5 victory over Slovenia in the former!

This after Arjun Erigaisi, D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa won their respective 11th round encounters, with Arjun’s victory over Jan Subelj sealing a historic gold

India move to the top of the women’s standings with a comprehensive 3.5-0.5 victory over Azerbaijan! Whether they can stay there, however, will depend on the Kazakhstan vs USA meeting.

After Harika Dronavalli and Vantika Agrawal win their respective encounters against Gunay Mammadzada and Khanim Balajayeva respectively, while R Vaishali is held to a stalemate by Ulviyya Fataliyeva.

India now 3-0 up against Slovenia in the Open section after R Praggnanandhaa defeats Anton Demchenko!

Can Vidit Gujrathi make it 4-0 for the Indians by beating Matej Sebenik?

It’s been a brilliant few minutes for the Indians in Budapest, with Divya Deshmukh too collecting a full point after defeating Govhar Beydullayeva, boosting India’s chances of winning gold in the Women’s category as well after confirming it in the Open section following Arjun and Gukesh’s wins.

Arjun Erigaisi has an hour left on the clock, double that of his opponent Jan Subelj. Both Arjun and Jan captain their opponents’ queens in their 17th (xd4) and 18th (cxd4) moves respectively.

In the USA vs China encounter in the open section, reigning world champion Ding Liren, who was prevented by his team from facing India’s Gukesh, faced world No 3 Fabiano Caruana, with their battle ending in a stalemate.
