CLICK HERE FOR DETAILED SCORECARD 0104 IST After 20 overs, England are 113-8. Appeal off the first ball against Broad, turned down by the third umpire. The second ball was swept for four. The third was a mistimed shot for a single. The fourth was a two for Tredwell, the fifth was another couple. Came down to six runs off 1 ball. He got nothing. And Dhoni was jumping around in delight in a way you have never seen him ract before. This was a stunning collapse by England. India kept their cool and England just didn’t know what hit them.

0054 IST WICKET! After 18.4 overs, England are 113-8. Horrible cricket from England. Big appeal for leg-before from Jadeja but Bresnan decided to push off for a single when there was none. England are playing crazy cricket. And on TV, David Lloyd says, ‘Can’t believe this is an international team." T Bresnan run out 2 (4b) 0051 IST WICKET! After 18.2 overs, England are 112-7. Buttler went for this big shot, missed and the ball crashed into the top of middle stump. That’s not how you play against Jadeja… against Sir Jadeja. J Buttler b Jadeja 0 (1b) 0046 IST WICKET! After 17.4 overs, England are 110-6. Square leg was up and Ishant’s bouncer did the trick. That’s two wickets in two balls. Bopara thought it was too high but the umpires were having none of that. How quickly Ishant is going from villain to hero… R Bopara c Ashwin b I Sharma 30 (25b, 2x6) 0044 IST WICKET! After 17.3 overs, England are 110-5. Slower ball from Ishant completely fooled Morgan, who hit it straight to Ashwin. Big wicket. E Morgan c Ashwin b I Sharma 33 (30b, 3x4, 1x6) 0039 IST After 17 overs, England are 102-4. 12 runs from the Jadeja over. England need 28 off 18 balls – they have the edge at the moment. 0035 IST After 16 overs, England are 90-4. England need 40 runs off 24 balls to win this match. Morgan and Bopara are well set but they will run into India’s best spinners for three of those four overs. Tight finish coming up. 0032 IST After 15 overs, England are 82-4. And Ishant delivers – for England that is. 11 runs off the over – including a six off the last ball. Bopara is getting into the act too. Morgan has looked good. 0025 IST After 14 overs, England are 71-4. The English conditions have been a joke in this tournament. The ball is turning square – even Raina is getting it to do that. Morgan has 20 and Bopara has 6. 0023 IST After 14 overs, England are 68-4. At the same stage, India were 66-5. Not much between the two sides but England know what their target and that can be a big advantage. Dhoni has kept three overs from Jadeja and Ashwin in reserve. 0019 IST After 13 overs, England are 63-4. Another decent over for England – 8 runs. Dhoni pressed Raina into the attack – inspired by the effect of his other spinners. But the England batsmen played him with a fair degree of ease. 0015 IST After 11 overs, England are 55-4. Good over for England. Ishant got his line wrong and Morgan took advantage of that to get a four on the off-side. 0012 IST After 10 overs, England are 46-4. A maiden from Ashwin. Classy stuff. Ball is turning and bouncing like a day five Test wicket.0008 IST After 8.4 overs, England are 46-4. Bell has been given out stumped by the third umpire but it looks like a harsh decision. He played all around Jadeja’s delivery but replays showed that he seemed to have managed to get his foot behind the line. India won’t mind it but this will hurt England. I Bell st Dhoni b Jadeja 13 (16b, 1x4)

2359 IST After 7.4 overs, England are 40-3. Root tried to play the pull, got a top-edge and it was well taken by Ishant at deep backward square-leg. Important wicket – he has been the man in form. Eoin Morgan is in next and he is key. 2357 IST After 7 overs, England are 38-2. It’s a really close game now. A few wickets can make it go India’s way while a few good overs could give England control. 2352 IST WICKET! After 5.2 overs, England are 28-2. Trott overbalanced and that dragged him out of the crease but still Ashwin’s ball was outside the leg-stump and you can’t help but think that the batsman missed a trick here. The ball was later declared a wide. Quick hands by Dhoni behind the stumps. J Trott st Dhoni b Ashwin 20 (17b, 2x4) 2347 IST After 5 overs, England are 27-1. Nice over by Jadeja – he was accurate and even got the ball to spin sharply past Trott’s bat. Trott seemed to get pretty frustrated. 2344 IST After 4 overs, England are 24-1. Just like that England are scoring at 6 RPO. India probably needed a few more runs to put pressure on England’s batsmen – but with the current total, England are play pretty normal cricket. 2339 IST After 3 overs, England are 17-1. Someone’s told Trott that this is a T20 match and he has responded well – scored 14 runs off the first seven balls he faced. 2329 IST After 1.5 overs, England are 3-1. Umesh Yadav’s pace did the trick – it skidded on to Cook and he edged it to first slip, where Ashwin took a good catch. A Cook c Ashwin b Yadav 2 (9b) 2329 IST After 1 over, England are 3-0. Pretty steady first over from Bhuvi. England won’t want to rush it.

2326 IST England’s openers are out. Bhuvneshwar has the new ball. 2316 IST India 129-7 after 20 overs. Not a bad revival for India. From 66-5 to 129-7. Jadeja (33 off 25) and Kohli (43), played well and ensured that the bowlers will have something to bowl at. This won’t be easy – 2313 IST WICKET! India 119-7 after 19.2 overs. Ashwin has got to be the worst runner between wickets in this Indian team. But he did the right thing – going for the second run, that keeps Jadeja on strike. 2308 IST WICKET! India 113-6 after 18.3 overs. First ball of the over, Jadeja made room and smashed Anderson over wide long-on. But Anderson got some revenge of his own but having Kohli dismissed two balls later – caught at long-on by Bopara, who is having a super game so far. V Kohli c Bopara b Anderson 43 (34b, 4x4, 1x6) 2302 IST India 106-5 after 18 overs. And Jonathan Trott dropped Kohli in the last over – like a goalkeeper just bumped it over. Big drop. And then just to rub salt in Broad’s wounds, Kohli carted the last ball for six over square leg. Stunning shot! 2257 IST India 97-5 after 17 overs. Another good over for India – 11 off it. That’s the end of the power play. Kohli seems to have found some rhythm in the middle. India needs him to stay till the end. 2252 IST India 86-5 after 16 overs. Jadeja got a four – a slog across the line – off Tredwell and that meant another decent over for India. But they need at least 130 to put pressure on England. At the moment, that looks tough. India are taking the Batting Power Play now. 2247 IST India 78-5 after 15 overs. Finally, someone starting picking Bopara’s slower balls. Kohli got off two big shots – a four over extra cover and then through square leg – and India managed 12 runs off the over. 2239 IST WICKET! India 66-5 after 13 overs. What a bit wicket! Short ball, cramped Dhoni for room and that was that. He has played only 26 balls in this tournament before this innings. India are in major trouble and could use some help from Sir Jadeja. A double-wicket maiden for Bopara, who has figures of 3-8. Stunning. M Dhoni c Tredwell b Bopara 0 (4b)2236 IST WICKET! India 66-4 after 12.2 overs. Bopara’s the star?! Raina gave it his all, tried to go over the fielder at mid-on but didn’t get the height on it. The ball also hit low on the bat. Cook took the catch. Getting to the time when India wished it could share the trophy. The two new balls will not be making things easier. S Raina c Cook b Bopara 1 (6b) 2230 IST WICKET! India 64-3 after 11.1 overs. Another wicket, Karthik trying to work it from outside the off-stump, got a top edge. Gone. Morgan took the catch. Raina joins Kohli in the middle. D Karthik c Morgan b Tredwell 6 (11b) 2229 IST India 64-2 after 11 overs. Looks like India is trying not to lose any wickets here. Just kidding but India need some runs quickly. 2225 IST India 59-2 after 10 overs. Pretty decent start by England. All the stops and starts have meant that things are more difficult for the batsmen – but India need to get a move on. The pitch is playing pretty well. 2221 IST India 52-2 after 9 overs. Good over by Bopara, he was accurate and got the wicket as well. Kohli and Karthik in the middle for India. 2218 IST WICKET! India 50-2 after 8.2 overs. He picked the slower ball but just couldn’t get it over extra cover. Good catch by Tredwell. That’s the end of his tournament and what a tournament it has been. S Dhawan c Tredwell b Bopara 31 (24b, 2x4, 1x6) 2215 IST India 49-1 after 8 overs. Dhawan playing Tredwell well – one classic four stood out in the over and relieved the pressure a bit. 2210 IST Play has just begun again. 2141 IST 5:40 pm BST restart. That’s 2210 IST. Slightly longer delay. 2132 IST The covers are going off. Sigh. This is painful now. The skies are clear and blue – without a hint of grey. Another inspection at 5.20 pm BST (9:50 pm IST). 2124 IST India 38-1 after 6.2 overs. More rain. The groundsmen are running back on with the covers. Then it stops raining. Then it starts again. All in the space of a few minutes. Michael Holding says: The groundsmen aren’t too sure of what to do. 2121 IST India 35-1 after 6 overs. Dhawan smashed the first ball for six over point – it was short and the left-hander’s feet were in the air as he played the shot. 2118 IST But just a passing shower. Covers coming back off. Umpires back on. Teams coming back on. Play can go on till around 2030 BST – the ICC technical committee decided ahead of the match. 2116 IST It’s raining again. Covers are back on. India 28-1 after 5.4 overs. 2113 IST Shikhar Dhawan has been exceptional for India and he seems to be continuing to do that. India 25-1 after 5 overs. 2107 IST Bowled! Rohit Sharma is gone. India 19-1. Harsha Bhogle says on TV, this was a T20 shot and he’s right. Huge gap between bat and pad and Broad knocked back the off-stump. R Sharma b Broad 9 (14b, 1x4)

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

2104 IST In keeping with T20 tradition, Cook took out the second slip and that’s exactly where Rohit edged it off the first ball of the over. And off the last ball, four overthrows helped India reach 16-0 after 3 overs.2059 IST They even have the lights on. It’s still pretty dark. India 6 for no loss after 2 overs. Not easy batting conditions. 2054 IST Looks like India have forgotten this is a T20 game! Still stuck in ODI mode. Just 2 runs from the first over! Anderson bowled a good line and length there. Kept the batsmen honest. And we are a go! Rohit Sharma on strike. Maximum two fielders outside the 30-yard circle. Anderson the bowler. Toss and teams Cook won the toss, England will bowl first. Bresnan back in the team for Finn. No changes in the Indian team. IND XI: S Dhawan, RG Sharma, V Kohli, D Karthik, S Raina, MS Dhoni, R Jadeja, R Ashwin, B Kumar, I Sharma, U Yadav ENG XI: A Cook, I Bell, J Trott, J Root, E Morgan, R Bopara, J Buttler, T Bresnan, S Broad, James Tredwell, J Anderson And the rain has stopped now 20/20 match starting at 4.20pm BST (8.50 pm IST). Any more rain will basically mean curtains.Raining again! And it starts raining again! The covers are back on. Finally! It’s a 3.45pm BST start. That’s 8:15 pm IST. 24 overs per side. Finally. We just might have a game. Umpires to inspect ground Rain stops, sun peeks out. If there is no further rain, the umpires will conduct an inspection at 7:30pm.Cut-off Time The cut off time for a 20 over game is 4:18 pm (8:48 pm IST). At the moment, it’s pouring cats and dogs though. No rescuing this? 5:34 PM IST: The sun comes out at Edgbaston, the ground staff starts clearing water from outfield and then it starts raining again. Sigh. No reserve day There is no reserve day for the ICC Champions Trophy final. Official reason: England have to play a T20 match against New Zealand. India, meanwhile, go down to the West Indies. Sigh. So much for being a prestigious tournament. And to add to that: @ESPNcricinfo tells us that the forecast for tomorrow is ‘Bright and sunny.’ 4:50 PM IST: The rain has continued to be an issue so the umpires have decided to schedule the lunch break for 5:00 PM And here’s the weather forecast: Check it out And it starts raining again. An inspection was planned around 1630 IST but that’s obviously not going to happen now. Rain stops but still very dark 3:50 PM IST: The rain has eased but the full covers are still in place. The groundsmen have already begun brushing some of the water away. It’s still very dark. Time for the national anthems And rain greets the national anthems. Not good, not good. Let’s get a few overs in. The covers are on, players are off.  England win the toss Cook wins the toss, England will bowl first. Bresnan back in the team for Finn. No changes in the Indian team. Rain is expected during the day, so it might be a stop-start sort of day. IND XI: S Dhawan, RG Sharma, V Kohli, D Karthik, S Raina, MS Dhoni, R Jadeja, R Ashwin, B Kumar, I Sharma, U Yadav ENG XI: A Cook, I Bell, J Trott, J Root, E Morgan, R Bopara, J Buttler, T Bresnan, S Broad, James Tredwell, J Anderson     Toss coming up We are less than 10 minutes from the toss. We just might have an on time toss. Rain delay Covers on at the moment but hopeful of a 10.30 (GMT) start, according to @skycricket. The scheduled start of play was 9.30 GMT. It’s not raining at the moment though. Both teams are currently warming up. For those who came in late, it’s the World Champions vs the hosts. Ganguly’s pitch report On TV, Ganguly tells us the pitch has been prepared well. There is moisture in the pitch and there will be help for the seamers early on. But rain is expected throughout the day and the team that wins the toss will want to bowl first. Dhawan magic Dhawan has been fantastic for India – he has 332 runs at an average of 110 this tournament. If England want to win today, they will have to get him early.  Preview [caption id=“attachment_898279” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Dhawan has been superb for India. AP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Dhawan_AP1.jpg) Dhawan has been superb for India. AP[/caption] Putting behind the turbulent phase of the past few weeks, a red-hot India are standing on the cusp of winning their second straight world title as they take on hosts England in the summit showdown of the ICC Champions Trophy here on Sunday. The reigning World Cup winners roared into the title clash of what will be the last edition of the tournament, winning all their four matches with consummate ease under the astute leadership of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In a contest where the exuberance of youth will lock horns with the craftiness of experience, the ‘Three Lions’ on the other hand will be gunning for their first major 50-over international title in their own lair. Joint winners with Sri Lanka in the 2002 Champions Trophy in Colombo, India are the defending World Cup champions and the No. 1 team on the latest ICC rankings. But reputation and numbers will have little significance in a match, where skill and mental toughness face an acid test at the Edgbagston. PTI
