Dhaka: Bangladesh on Monday included two uncapped cricketers - Mosaddek Hossain and paceman Shuvashis Roy - in their 15-man squad for second and final Test against England.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin said Mosaddek was included as a backup to Sabbir Rahman, who has fallen ill after putting up a valiant fight in Bangladesh's 22-run loss in the opening Test that ended on Monday in Chittagong.
Sabbir was left stranded on 64 as Ben Stokes claimed two wickets in three balls to seal the thrilling contest on the fifth day.
“Sabbir was feeling sick after the match. So we needed someone as a backup in case he cannot play,” said Minhajul.
Mosaddek, who has a good track record in domestic first-class cricket, played five one-day internationals against Afghanistan and England but he has yet to win a Test cap.
Shuvashis replaced paceman Shafiul Islam, who has been rested.
“Shafiul played all three ODIs and the first Test after coming from injury, we thought he needs a break,” said Minhajul.
The second and final Test will start in Dhaka on 28 October.
Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, Shuvagata Hom, Sabbir Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Shuvashis Roy, Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam, Nurul Hasan.
England captain Morgan has scored a mere 82 runs in seven Twenty20 innings for England this year.
Singh's arrest occurred after an activist in Hansi filed a complaint regarding a casteist slur used by the cricketer during an Instagram live event with Rohit Sharma earlier this year.
Bangladesh are coming into the tournament with nine T20I wins in the calendar year, only behind South Africa who have 12.
