Watch: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy’s shares his father's adorable reaction to unboxing of Guinness World Record certificate

Star Indian shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy broke a decade-old Guinness world record earlier this year having hit the fastest shot ever in the history of badminton with an astonishing 565 km/hour smash. Having set the record for the fastest hit by a male badminton player, Rankireddy has now shared a heart-warming video on social media, showing his father having a look at his son’s Guinness World Record certificate. The 23-year-old shuttler’s historic smash broke the previous record of 493 km/hour which was set by Malaysian and former Asian Games doubles champion Tan Boon Heong back in May 2013. Rankireddy shared a wholesome video with his father, who was also a state-level badminton player. While unboxing the certificate, Rankireddy’s father seemed, quite understandably, elated and proud of his son’s achievement. “As my shuttle soared at 565 kmph, I realized the true speed of a father’s pride – an unbreakable record in my heart,” read the caption of the post shared on X, formerly Twitter.

As the video plays, Rankireddy’s father can be seen unwrapping the box enthusiastically. The video went on to show his father holding the certificate in his hand with a proud smile on his face. Later, Rankireddy was also seen posing with his parents. As soon as the video was shared, people flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages and best wishes for Rankireddy. “Congratulations! That smile has us smiling too”, the official social media handle of the Olympic Games wrote.

Another user wrote, “Keep it up champ …. So proud of you.”

One social media user commented, “This is such a heartwarming video. You can see the pride in their eyes. May you get more success.”

Rankireddy set the record under controlled conditions at Yonex Tokyo Factory in Soka, Japan earlier this year on 14 April. While the record was later confirmed in July, Rankireddy received the certificate recently. The 23-year-old, along with his doubles partner Chirag Shetty recently became the only men’s doubles pair from India to win a Badminton World Federation World Tour 1000.
