A day after losing the men’s singles badminton bronze medal match at the Paris Olympics, Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen on Tuesday requested for some “space and privacy” as he aims to return back stronger.

“I am determined to reflect on what went wrong and where I need to improve. I sincerely request space and privacy at this time to regroup, come back stronger, and win laurels for India,” added the youngster.
The 22 year-old faced Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal match after he lost to Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen in the semi-finals. Sen lost with a scoreline of 21-13, 16-21, 11-21. Lakshya won the first game of the bronze medal match 21-13, and although he looked comfortable in the second game with an 8-3 lead, he surrendered that lead to allow Lee to bounce back and take the game 21-16.
Midway into the match, Lakshya suffered an elbow injury and required treatment. That injury seemed to have hampered his chances big time as he went down in the third game with a 11-21 scoreline. Lakshya’s loss also meant that Inda’s shuttlers endured a medal-less campaign in an Olympics for the first time since 2008.
