Less than 48 hours after the conclusion of the Malaysia Open BWF Super 1000, fans will get a chance to witness another action-packed badminton tournament with the India Open 2024 all set to get underway this week. The India Open Super 750, scheduled to be played at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, will start on Tuesday, January 16 and will go on till January 21. Big names like, Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, Japan’s Kodai Naraoka, Spain’s Carolina Marin and many more will be involved in the competition this time. From India’s perspective, players like HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will be vying for the title this year. With an aim of securing berths in the Paris Olympics 2024, the India Open Super 750 is going to be a vital outing for the shuttlers. Ace men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also be among the key title contenders. The duo had won six titles in 2023 as well as a historic gold in the Asian Games, and more recently, finished runners-up in the Malaysia Open. Despite enjoying a significant Indian presence in the competition, the hosts will miss two-time Olympic medal winner PV Sindhu. She will not take part in the event due to an injury in the left knee.
