Melbourne: Australia’s Twenty20 captain Aaron Finch is facing a race against time to get fit for next month’s World Twenty20 Championships in India even though he does not require surgery on his injured hamstring. AP[/caption] Finch injured his left hamstring during second T20 match against India in Melbourne, which also him out of the final match of the series. The Aussies were whitwashed 3-0 by India. While Finch tweeted that he will be in for World T20, the Cricket Australia are cautious about jumping into any such conclusion. “Aaron had scans on his injured left hamstring that confirmed a moderate grade hamstring injury,” Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said in a statement. “This is not a recurrence of the previous hamstring injury that required surgery in April 2015. Although this current injury doesn’t require surgery there is a period of rehabilitation required before he can resume playing,” he added. Kountouris said CA will do all it can to ensure his fitness for the T20 showpiece next month. “We are aiming to have Aaron fit for the ICC World T20 in India but will have better idea about his fitness for that tournament in the coming weeks once we see how he responds to treatment and a rehabilitation program.” PTI
