India’s women shooters had a day to remember on Wednesday after they clinched gold medal at individual and team events at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Sift Kaur Samra grabbed the headlines on Wednesday, clinching the gold in women’s 50m rifele 3 positions event, and that too with a world record score of 469.6.Esha Singh, 18, won silver medal in the women’s 25 metre Air Pistol individual event, while also clinching gold in the team event with Rhythm Sangwan and Manu Bhaker. In sailing, Vishnu Saravanan bagged bronze medal, which was also India’s third medal in the sport at the Games. Singapore’s Jun Han Ryan Loh clinched gold medal, followed by South Korea’s Jeemin who took silver. Other major results included Roshibina Devi reaching the women’s final in Wushu, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale reaching the mixed doubles quarterfinals in tennis. The pair of Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan also assured India a medal in tennis by reaching the men’s doubles semi-finals. On Thursday, shuttler PV Sindhu will be in action in the team event.
