India opened their medal account at the Asian Games 2023 Sunday with Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita Jindal and Ashi Chouksey winning the silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event. Ramita also added a bronze in the 10m air rifle individual event as Indian shooters began their campaign on an impressive note. In the individual event, Junior world champion Ramita scored 230.1 in the eight-shooter finals to clinch the bronze. The 19-year-old Ramita was close to winning a silver medal but fell behind after a poor 9.9 on the 13th shot. Mehuli finished fourth with a score of 208.43. The gold and silver medals went to China. Huang Yuting broke the Games record with a score of 252.7 to clinch the top spot while silver was won by Han Jiayu who scored 251.3.
