Ashish Nehra undergoes successful knee surgery at a London hospital

London: Veteran India speedster Ashish Nehra successfully underwent a right-knee surgery in a London hospital to treat his high-grade tendon injury sustained while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier
League earlier this month.

The 37-year-old was India's best bowler during the ICC World T20 where he got 5 wickets in 5 games at a miserly economy rate of 5.94 runs per over. He was named in 'Team of the Tournament'.

Nehra sustained the injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, as he aborted his run-up and was seen in considerable pain.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, "Nehra was advised to consult Dr Andrew Williams, an orthopaedic specialist in London, and the surgery took place on Tuesday night."

Nehra also had a decent IPL for Sunrisers with 9 wickets from 8 games at an economy rate of less than 8 runs per over.

It is expected that Nehra, if he decides to continue playing, will take around six months for complete recovery as well as rehabilitation programme.

Nehra's name has been doing the rounds for quite some time as the bowling coach of the senior team as he shares a fantastic rapport with current team players.
