As 'shararati' Virat Kohli turns 28, Twitterati gush over their favourite star

Virat Kohli is undoubtedly India's best batsman and one of cricket's hottest property. From being called brash and arrogant in his younger days to becoming India's Test captain and being praised for his maturity, his growth has been incredible, both on and off the field.

5 November is Kohli's birthday, and as expected, social media users gushed as they wished 'Chikoo'. Wishes poured in from fans as well current and former cricketers. From Sachin Tendulkar to Anil Kumble, all took to Twitter and greeted Kohli. But it was Virender Sehwag (again) whose tweet went viral.

But before going into the best tweets, let's go through some of the best stats of India's run machine: Kohli is the fastest (161 matches) to reach 7,000 runs in ODI cricket. His record while chasing in ODIs is phenomenal – he averages 63.52 and has an overall average of 52.93. He began his career in 50-overs cricket in 2008 and has managed to score 26 ODI centuries so far. He amassed 973 runs during the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL), which included four centuries and his average of 57.13 is the best in T20Is.

He had achieved all these staggering stats before turning 28! One can well imagine what is on offer in the years to come. Here is a collection of tweets wishing the Indian Test captain on his birthday:

From support staff, players to his coach Rajkumar Sharma, BCCI posted a video compilation of them wishing Kohli.
