It’s been four years since Sachin Tendulkar hung up his boots, but a Tendulkar is still troubling the England cricket team. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Sachin’s son Arjun yorked England batsman Jonny Bairstow, and the latter had to limp out of the nets after facing only one delivery from the 17-year old. Reuters[/caption] This incident happened a day before the first Test betweeen England and South Africa at the Lord’s. Though Bairstow’s participation was not affected, he certainly needed some medical attention. In order to ease his pain, Bairstow had to place his left foot in a compression unit. It is not the first time that Arjun, a left-arm seamer, has practised at Lord’s. He had trained at the indoor nets of the iconic stadium during the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Arjun has represented Mumbai’s U-14 and U-16 teams. Though the son of one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Arjun is primarily a bowler. It can be noted that Tendulkar too had aspirations of becoming a fast bowler until his mind changed, for good, and concentrated only on his batting. England and South Africa are currently playing a four-match Test series which began on Thursday. This series will also mark the beginning of Joe Root the captain. South Africa’s tour of England so far has been unimpressive, having lost the limited-overs legs and failing to reach the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. They will however, look to revive their fortunes in the longest format.
