Anupam Kher and Kiran Bedi shared an old video from 2023 World Athletics Championships on Day 1 of Paris Olympics and claimed that India have made it to the finals.

Indian sports fans were in for a rude shock on Saturday as sporting events officially began in the Paris Summer Games 2024. Even before any Indian athlete took part in an event on Day 1 of the Paris Olympics, celebrities like Bollywood star Anupam Kher and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and police officer, Kiran Bedi, started sharing that Indian men’s 4x400 relay team had qualified for the finals.

They posted a video on their X accounts which showed the Indian team qualifying for the finals.

As the videos went viral, sports fans started to congratulate the athletes and the nation but all that enthusiasm lasted for a short time as Kher and Bedi were called out for sharing old videos.

Frankly speaking, Kher and Bedi did not mention Paris Olympics 2024 in their posts on X but used the hashtag #OlympicGames which gave the impression that they were talking about the ongoing Olympics.

After being called out by the fans, Kher said his tweet was “wishful thinking”.

The interesting bit is that Men’s 4x400m relay qualification rounds will only take place on 9 August followed by the final on 10 August.

Now coming the viral video. It’s from the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary when the Indian team of Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh recorded 2:59.05s timing to reach the final for the first time.

They also broke the Asian record by qualifying for the final back in August 2023.
