The Scottish Football Federation said Tuesday it was in contact with “relevant authorities” following allegations of attempted match-fixing involving a friendly between Scotland and Nigeria in London. The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its website Tuesday that officers from the National Crime Agency were investigating attempts to fix Wednesday’s match at Fulham’s Craven Cottage ground. AP[/caption] The NCA, which investigates organized crime, and FIFA both declined to comment on the report but the Scottish football federation said in a statement to The Associated Press it “liaised with the relevant authorities and will prepare for the match as normal.” The game between Scotland and World Cup-bound Nigeria is part of a string of warm-up matches ahead of the tournament in Brazil next month. The NCA has also been investigating allegations of spot-fixing — where minor elements of a game are rigged — in English football following information from newspaper The Sun On Sunday published last December.
