Amit Mishra 'tried to outrage my modesty', alleges woman who filed complaint against the leg-spinner

Indian cricketer Amit Mishra was summoned by Bengaluru police on 20 October for allegedly physically assaulting and abusing a woman in his hotel room in the city. “We have shot off a notice, summoning India cricketer Amit Mishra for physically assaulting and physically abusing a woman in the city last month,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, Sandeep Patil told PTI. AFP[/caption] The incident reportedly took place in September when the cricketer was visiting the city. The woman in question has been identified as 34-year old Bengaluru resident Vandana Jain by Bangalore Mirror . She is reportedly a Bollywood producer and the co-owner of Celebrity Cricket League’s Bengal Tigers team along with Boney Kapoor. Jain has accused Mishra of assaulting her with an electric kettle inside a room in the Ritz Carlton, a five-star hotel in the city during a verbal duel and also outraging her modesty. The report says that Mishra was was a regular to city for training at National Cricket Academy (NCA). He reportedly visited Jain at her house on Rest House, Crescent Road every time he visited and they were said to be good friends for the past three years. However, she alleged that Mishra tried to avoid her and she hence confronted him in his hotel room. “I learnt that he is in town for training prior to South Africa tour. On 25 September evening, I went to Ritz Carlton hotel room and began to talk to him. He began to give me evasive replies and shouted at me. He tried to outrage my modesty. Even few hotel staff have seen this and CCTV footage must confirm this. Please take action against him for assaulting me,” Jain stated in her complaint filed on 27 September as quoted in the Bangalore Mirror . Mishra had been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence), The leg-spinner is currently part of the Indian squad for the series against South Africa. Neither he nor the BCCI hasn’t commented on the issue at the time of writing.
