After-bite effect: Tyson starts following Suarez on Twitter

Luis Suarez's bite on Chelsea opponent Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday has landed him a new follower on Twitter -- Mike Tyson.

Suarez clearly clamped his jaw around the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during the second half of an action-packed Premier League clash but escaped unpunished. The bite could land the Uruguayan in all kinds of trouble with the Football Association, but he obviously has a new admirer in the former heavyweight champion, who is also probably the most famous of all sports 'biters'.

Luis Suarez has a new, very famous follower on Twitter.

Suarez, who later issued an unreserved apology for his behaviour, earned his side the draw with a powerful header six minutes into stoppage time.

Tyson made Suarez his 432nd and most recent follow as the Uruguayan's antics became the talk of the social network.

In the second round of his 1997 heavyweight title fight with Evander Holyfield, Tyson took a piece out of Holyfield's ear with his teeth. He was disqualified from the bout, and fined $3m (around £2m) plus legal costs after the incident.

But by then Tyson was a painful reminder of the force he used to be in the ring. However, Suarez's 'best' years by all accounts are still ahead of him.

One wonders how many more bites he has left in him.
