Lahore: The father of Pakistan’s jailed former skipper Salman Butt has accused disgraced pacer Muhammad Aamir of putting all the blame on his son in order to “revive his career”. Butt’s family has not taken kindly to the comments made by Aamir in his interview to a British channel where the teenage fast bowler said that he was tricked into spot-fixing by Salman and bookie Mazhar Majeed and that he did not bowl no balls against England for money. How can one believe him now,” said Zulfiqar Butt, Salman’s father. “He is now trying to show the world that he is very innocent and was an innocent victim in the whole affair. He is trying to paint Salman as the main culprit to save his skin and revive his career. “But I think everyone has seen through him and he is not as innocent as he pretends to be,” Zulfiqar added. While Aamir has completed his jail term, Butt and another accused in the scandal Mohammad Asif are still serving their 30 and 12 months sentences in Britain. The three players were also banned by the ICC for a minimum of five years each. PTI
