Why are wild pigs in California turning smurf-blue?

Hunters in Monterey County found feral hogs with neon-blue tissue, caused by the rodenticide Diphacinone. Diphacinone, an anticoagulant, can cause serious internal bleeding and is dangerous even when the meat is cooked. CDFW warns against eating wild game with blue tissue and calls for stricter pest-control measures to protect ecosystems.
