US courts block deportation of Indian-origin man who was wrongfully jailed for 43 years
Two US courts have blocked the deportation of Subramanyam Vedam, who spent over 40 years in prison for a murder conviction that was overturned. Vedam's deportation was halted by an immigration judge and a Pennsylvania district court until his case is reviewed by the Board of Immigration Appeals. Vedam's family welcomed the court orders, hoping the Board of Immigration Appeals will prevent his deportation.
