Saudi ends ‘modern slavery’ with kafala system. Why it’s significant for Indian workers

Saudi Arabia has abolished the Kafala system, replacing it with a contract-based employment system. The reform is expected to benefit 13.4 million migrant workers, including 2.65 million Indians. Workers will now have more freedom to change jobs and leave the country without sponsor consent.
