Rupee breaches 91-mark to hit new record low, 6% fall against dollar in 2025.
The rupee hit a record low of 90.87 against the US dollar, pressured by continued FII outflows and uncertainty over the India-US trade deal. A weaker dollar and lower global crude oil prices limited further rupee losses, despite India's trade deficit narrowing to a five-month low. Sensex fell 363.92 points and Nifty dropped 106.65 points in early trade, while wholesale price inflation remained negative for the second month.
