Republic Day 2026: Meet the founding mothers of the Indian Constitution
The Indian Constitution, the world's longest, was drafted by 299 Constituent Assembly members, including 15 pioneering women from diverse backgrounds. These women, such as Ammu Swaminathan, Sarojini Naidu, and Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, fought for social justice, women's rights, and equality. Their contributions shaped key constitutional principles, including the abolition of untouchability, universal adult franchise, and the inclusion of women's rights.
