    Red Fort blast: Pakistani terrorist files curative petition 4 years after SC’s death penalty nod

    The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Delhi government on a curative plea by Mohammad Arif, sentenced to death for the 2000 Red Fort terror attack that killed three Army personnel. Arif's curative petition challenges the dismissal of his earlier review plea and follows the rejection of his mercy petition by the President in June 2024. The Supreme Court emphasized the limited scope of curative petitions, meant only for rare cases of gross miscarriage of justice.
