Pro-Kurd demonstrators and police clash near Turkey–Syria border

Clashes broke out in Turkey's Nusaybin between police and over 1,000 pro-Kurdish protesters opposing a Syrian military offensive against Kurds. Turkish police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse demonstrators, some of whom tried to cross into Syria or scale border fences. The unrest follows failed talks between the SDF and Syrian government, raising tensions in Turkey and threatening the stalled peace process with the PKK.
