Military takes over Madagascar: President impeached, state institutions dissolved

Madagascar's military has taken control after mass protests, dissolving all state institutions except the lower house of parliament. President Andry Rajoelina fled the country citing safety concerns after the National Assembly voted to impeach him. A committee of military officers will temporarily carry out presidential duties and a civilian government will be set up soon.
