India set to get more doctors than it would’ve normally got
India's medical regulator has extended relaxed MBBS intake norms for existing colleges through 2026–27, allowing eligible institutions to admit more students if quality standards are met. The cap of 150 MBBS seats per college remains suspended for 2024–25, giving colleges flexibility to expand intake. The move aims to address doctor shortages by boosting admissions without compromising training quality, though competition for seats will remain high.
