India’s next census in 2027, Modi Cabinet clears Rs 11,718 crore for world’s biggest headcount

The Centre has allocated Rs 11,728 crore for the 2027 Census, which will occur in two phases: house listing and housing census from April to September 2026, followed by population enumeration starting in February 2027.
